Alpharetta, GA (Vocus) April 8, 2010
R. Shane Jackson, president of LocumTenens.com and executive vice president of Jackson Healthcare, spoke recently as a selected panelist at the Center for Health Transformation's (CHT) first member meeting of 2010, which took place on March 25 in Atlanta, Ga. The meeting, titled "New Solutions for a New Reality," included a panel discussion called "Individual Rights, Responsibilities and Expectations of Behavior.” The panel featured Jackson, Michael Dermer, president & CEO of IncentOne, and John Harris, vice president innovations & chief wellness officer of Healthways.
Recognized as a leader in the area of employee wellness programs, Jackson was asked to speak on the panel about recognizing wellness as an overall corporate value. Both LocumTenens.com and Jackson Healthcare have been consistently recognized with awards acknowledging their efforts in creating a positive work environment for employees. In fact, LocumTenens.com was honored as Staffing Industry Analyst's "4th Best Staffing Firm to Work For” in 2009, and Jackson Healthcare consistently ranks in the top ten of the Atlanta Business Chronicle's "Best Places to Work.”
"Part of our mission at LocumTenens.com is to empower our employees as whole individuals,” said Jackson. "Wellness is a significant part of that along with all of our other resources like training and mentoring.”
"I was honored to participate in the Center for Health Transformation panel and excited to speak on a topic that is not only a huge focus at LocumTenens.com and Jackson Healthcare, but also an issue I'm personally passionate about. As an avid triathlete myself, it excites me to see our ability as a company to motivate our employees to push themselves physically and try new things.”
Wellness initiatives include a company gym and fitness center, fitness challenges such as triathlon teams and run clubs, and healthy food offerings at the company's café.
"Our wellness initiatives have proven to be extremely successful, and highly valuable to our associates. Seventy percent of our associates in Alpharetta are members of our company gym, and 51% of those associates take advantage of our gym facilities at least three times a week,” said Jackson. "In fact, 56% of our associates stated that our wellness focus is a retention factor.”

About the Center for Health Transformation (CHT)
The Center for Health Transformation is a high-impact collaboration of private and public sector leaders committed to creating a 21st Century Intelligent Health System that saves lives and saves money for all Americans. CHT is based on the following premise: Small changes or reactionary fixes to separate pieces of the current system have not and will not work. We need a system-wide transformation. Unlike other alliances, CHT unites stakeholders across the spectrum (providers, employers, vendors, trade associations, disease groups, and think tanks) and government leaders at both the state and federal level to drive transformation according to a shared vision and key principles.
