Lois Lanham chronicles her personal experience of feeling God’s presence during a time of intense grief and loss in her new memoir “A Garment of Praise: A Story of Blessings in the Midst of Grief” (published by CrossBooks).

“I was inspired to write this book because I desire to honor God by publicly giving Him credit for His blessings and care for me and my family,” Lanham writes. “I also hope to reach out to other people who are experiencing times of grief, loss or other difficulty in their lives.”

In April 2003, Lanham’s husband, Tim Blake, was killed instantly in a motorcycle accident. In the blink of an eye, she became a widow and single mother to three teenagers. In the days following Tim’s death, Lanham was able to see through her pain and recognize the blessings that God was bestowing on her life. She began to keep a written record of these blessings as she became aware of them.

“A Garment of Praise” takes readers through Lanham’s first year of widowhood and single parenting. During that year, in the midst of pain and unwanted changes, God revealed himself to Lanham in a multitude of ways through a variety of people and circumstances.
