Micro Solutions Enterprises (MSE), a global leader in high-quality aftermarket imaging consumables, announced that the company employs over 900 workers at its recycling factory in Van Nuys, California.
Most people know ‘the valley’ as the suburban dystopia where teenage girls talk funny or, for other, more salacious distinctions.
However, from the post-war period until the late eighties, the San Fernando Valley was a mix of suburban ranch houses, bungalow-style apartments and (heavy and light) manufacturing facilities.
Probably the most important manufacturer in the San Fernando Valley during this time was the General Motors plant in Van Nuys. But, as was the trend, years of heavy overseas competition finally forced its closure in 1992.
MSE was started in 1994 by Yoel Wazana, who operated it out of his apartment in Palmdale, California.
Initially the company was a reseller of aftermarket imaging consumables, but in order to control quality, Yoel decided to take the risk of opening a manufacturing facility.
The company grew rapidly. In 1996 Yoel moved the company to a 30,000 sq. ft. facility in Chatsworth, California.
But soon, even that was still too small.
In 2005, MSE reaffirmed its commitment to U.S.-based manufacturing when it opened the 225,000 sq. ft. facility in Van Nuys, California.
While many manufacturers fled to cheap labor markets overseas, MSE decided to dig in and remain in southern California.
Today it is the largest U.S.-based aftermarket manufacturer of imaging supplies with production facilities located in the U.S.
Over the years, MSE has employed thousands of men and woman while promoting environmental sustainability and consumer choice.
Today the old GM plant is a mall called ‘The Plant,’ which is home to corporate retail franchises and corporate fast food chains.
Today MSE is one of the largest employers in the San Fernando Valley, offering cost-savings to consumers on high-quality aftermarket imaging consumables while also promoting environmental sustainability and the U.S. workforce.
“We are proud to have kept our manufacturing operations right here in California when so many others have fled, causing the economy to lose valuable manufacturing jobs,” says Yoel Wazana, president, MSE. “We believe that through innovation, automation, and quality we can continue to thrive as a U.S. manufacturer, and as we grow we will create more and more U.S. jobs."
Founded in 1994 by Yoel Wazana, MSE is the largest remanufacturer with U.S.-based production facilities and a leading-edge innovator in the marketplace. MSE pioneered the process of Intelligent Re-Engineering™, which employs patented technologies, proprietary processes, and stringent testing methodologies that result in the market’s best alternative to high-cost OEM print consumables. MSE has sales and distribution in Canada, Europe (UK and the Netherlands), Israel, UAE, Brazil, and USA (California and Pennsylvania).
