“Parenting is timeless, and grandmothers dispense a healthy dose of teaching and learning through play from a different perspective,” Loving notes.

A grandmother and her granddaughter portray the timeless heritage of quality time, laughter and memory making while playing a game of peek-a-boo in “My Grandma Loves to Play” (published by Trafford Publishing), the colorful new children’s book by author Winifred “Oyoko” Loving.

“In today’s busy world, with busy children and even busier parents, grandmothers can provide a different kind of play and learning, grounding us and slowing us down with her generosity of spirit and simplicity so that we don’t miss essential lessons embedded in the game,” Loving writes.

Throughout the book, Grandma cleverly engages her “pumpkin” in a game of peek-a-boo while guessing the granddaughter’s whereabouts with a series of fun, rhyming questions. The interaction between the two shows the importance of the dynamics of play, pretending and communication across generations.

“Parenting is timeless, and grandmothers dispense a healthy dose of teaching and learning through play from a different perspective,” Loving notes.
