Last week English Premier League Champions Manchester City Football Club generously shared their EPL and Community Shield trophies with EduKick Manchester Academy players at their Platt Lane academy training grounds.
EduKick Manchester International student footballers were given a surprise recently when they arrived at the Manchester City Platt Lane Academy for their daily afternoon training session. Manchester City Platt Lane Development Team Head Coach , Mike Haughton had arranged for the students to get up close and have their photograph taken with the Barclay’s Premier League Trophy and Community shield won by the Manchester City first team squad during the 2011/12 season.
Excitement filled the air as the students took turns to have their individual photo taken with the trophies before getting together for a squad picture alongside the famous trophies also.
Mick Brennan, Principal of EduKick Manchester said, “It was a special event and a big thanks to Mike and the staff at the Manchester City Platt Lane Development Team for organising the trophy presentation for our lads. We have some 25 boys attending the course from 17 different countries, and some of them had never even seen a live professional football match before joining us, so this experience was something very special.”
The moment was very inspiring fo the young international EduKick students who are aged between 14 and 19 years old. Mike Haughton, the Manchester City Platt Lane Development Team Manager commented; “It has been an absolute pleasure to coach the boys in the first few weeks of the year long course so when the opportunity arose to arrange this special surprise for them I had to make it happen. I told them that not many young footballers get this kind of opportunity and it was great to see their appreciation.”
For the academic part of this unique football and education course the participating players attend daily classes at their dedicated school located on the 4th floor of BrookHouse building in the city centre. The new school affords EduKick international student-players a large, light and comfortable contemporary college learning environment.
This high spec air-conditioned suite contains 8 spacious and bright classrooms with integral overhead projectors, 2 roomy student lounges with HD tv and pcs and a stunning yet welcoming reception area. Broadband Wi-fi internet access is available throughout to allow EduKick Manchester students to follow online studies and for use in studying either ESL/EFL (for non-native English speakers) or the BTEC in Sport Science (for native English speakers).
Every day after class, EduKick Manchester international footballers travel by private bus from the school at Brookhouse to the Manchester City Football Club Academy grounds at Platt Lane for their daily football training session.
