Andrews Kurth LLP is pleased to announce that Marc D. Katz has joined the firm's Dallas office as a Partner in the Labor and Employment section.

Katz will focus his practice on management side labor and employment litigation and counseling. His experience includes drafting, negotiating and litigating non-competition and confidentiality agreements, trade secret litigation, state and federal employment discrimination cases, wage and hour issues, medical leave and FMLA and ADA compliance issues, class action employment cases, wrongful discharge and defamation litigation. Katz has also developed workplace policies and advises corporate clients on mass layoffs and reductions in force, ERISA litigation and collective bargaining. He represents clients in administrative proceedings before OSHA, EEOC and corresponding state and local agencies.

Katz received his B.A in Political Science and Economics from Emory University in 1991, where he graduated Phi Beta Kappa and was a member of both Pi Sigma Alpha and Omicron Delta Epsilon honor societies. He received his J.D. from The University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law in 1994, where he was the Associate Editor of the Berkeley Technology Law Review.

Cristina I. Torres will join Katz in the Dallas office as an Associate. Torres represents clients in federal and state courts as well as before administrative agencies in disputes and allegations concerning labor and employment laws and regulations. Torres received her B.A., cum laude, from the University of Texas at El Paso in 2002. She received her J.D. in 2005 from The University of California at Berkeley, Boalt Hall School of Law.
