Wake Forest, N.C. (Vocus/PRWEB ) November 13, 2008 -- TheClassicalStation.org announces today that its weekly program "Preview!" will feature an interview with Composer Mario Lombardo. The interview can be heard during the station's Sunday, November 16, 2008 program that airs from 6-9 p.m.

Mr. Lombardo will be interviewed by "Preview!" host Deana Vassar. They will discuss his early composition influences such as Gershwin and Rachmaninov. Also included in the interview is Lombardo's love affair with the oboe, an instrument he doesn't even play. Featured will be his Concerto for Oboe in One Movement.

"Lombardo is a contemporary classical composer who evokes the spirit of Tchaikovsky and Rachmaninov," says Vassar. "He is simply a master of melody and romance."

"My other works for oboe include a Rhapsody for Oboe and Orchestra, a work for oboe and chamber entitled 'Escapades' and a recent world premiere on Oct. 26, 2008 of Dance Suite for Oboe and Strings," says Lombardo. "Oboist Oscar Petty premiered all of these concert oboe works. My aim is to continue writing music in the tradition of the great Romantic composers-that is, to bring beauty and harmony into a world filled with chaos."

"Preview!" is a weekly feature that airs every Sunday evening from 6-9 p.m. ET and presents the latest in classical recordings and upcoming classical events. WCPE's live broadcast of Great Classical Music, 24 Hours A Day can be accessed around the globe in several ways: on-line streaming in multiple formats, including IPv6; local cable television systems; and traditional radio broadcasting. A complete list of the ways WCPE is available with instructions for cable and satellite reception can be found at theclassicalstation.org/listen.shtml.
