Thanks to Evoluton Studios and their proprietary new game called "Driveclub," Sony's Playstation 4 will soon put real people into virtual cockpits of the world's elite autos. At last week's presentation by Sony in New York, auto enthusiasts got their first look at the stunning new Mercedes CLA 45 AMG, which will make a more formal, real-world, debut in March at the New York event.
Boasting impressive specs all around, the 45 AMG moves from a standstill to 62 mph in less than five seconds, features massive rear exhausts plus a 2.0-liter turbo engine. Word is that the new vehicle will also offer specialized, speed-sensitive steering and beefed up suspension for the sport model.
A surprise to some Mercedes followers is the fact that the CLA 45 AMG will get permanent 4-wheel drive of the 4Matic variety, and offer 325 horsepower and a hefty 331 foot-pounds of torque. In any case, in the realm of four-cylinder turbo engines, the CLA 45 AMG will be the most powerful production car of its kind.
The car’s front spoiler will be deeper than previous versions. In addition, the wheels and track will both be wider, side sills will be larger, the trunk will get its own spoiler, and the braking system has been enhanced. From any perspective, the CLA 45 AMG will be among the most elite vehicles ever produced by Mercedes-Benz.
Mercedes is sponsoring a contest related to the car. The Facebook page for Mercedes USA lets anyone who likes their page sign up to win hotel expenses for three days in addition to $500 cash. The winner will be able to attend the New York show in March and see the CLA 45 AMG when it makes its official world debut.
The class is a fresh model line for Mercedes-Benz. The Mercedes CLA is intended to fill the gap between the carmaker’s C-Class vehicles and the upcoming B-Class cars, which will likely be battery-electric. In the past several weeks, numerous spy photos of the car have turned up on the Internet. Presumably, the photos caught the elegant new luxury sedan as it was doing test runs on the outskirts of New York City, where it will make its official debut in a few weeks at the opening of the New York International Auto Show. The event opens its doors to the public on Mar. 29 and runs through Apr. 7.
