Houston, TX (PRWEB) January 12, 2010
In 1981, Michael Segal’s life nearly ended as a random shooting victim at a convenience store in Austin, TX. His initial prognosis was not good, and doctors felt that he would not survive the execution style shooting.
Not only did Michael survive but through his irrepressible positive attitude and determination, he has thrived. Michael returned to the University of Texas and went on to graduate with the highest honors, was initiated into the Phi Beta Kappa Honors Society and the National Leadership Honors Society, and was featured in Newsweek magazine as an "unsung hero”.
Michael Segal's "Possible"
Michael married his high school sweetheart, Sharon who was with him on the night of the shooting, and they have one daughter, Shawn. Michael has gone on to work as a social worker at Memorial Hospital in Houston and also a popular motivational/inspirational speaker.
In the many years that have elapsed since the shooting, Michael Segal has had an incredible journey. The CD, a collection of twelve stories ranging from humorous to heart wrenching is available at the iTunes music store and at Michael’s web site http://www.inspirationbymike.com.
Barbara LoMonaco, Editor of Chicken Soup for the Soul Publishing says “This CD is wonderful! All of the stories on it are written by Mike Segal and he has some amazing stories to tell. Everyone will be able to relate to and enjoy these stories. Some of them are serious and some will make you laugh but all of them will touch your heart and inspire you. I love the addition of the music and Jim O’Neill’s voice, as he reads each story, brings them to life. Enjoy!”
Each story on the CD is accompanied by the music of The O’Neill Brothers (http://www.pianobrothers.com.) Tim & Ryan O'Neill, nationally known recording artists from New Prague, MN, have released 30 albums of piano music in their relaxing, signature style. To date, The O’Neill Brothers have sold almost two million CDs. Tim and Ryan perform extensively across the country, having played for several governors, as well as President George H.W. Bush in recent years. They have provided music for NBC, ESPN, PBS, and HBO television, and regularly perform live on QVC television. Their most recent PBS concert special, “Piano for Someone You Love,” was nominated for an Emmy award, and several of their CDs have hit the Billboard charts. The CD’s narrator, Jim O’Neill, is a former “Billboard Magazine Personality of the Year” award winner, and a cousin to the O’Neill Brothers, who wrote and performed the music heard on the CD.
In 2009, Michael Segal’s stories were featured in several Chicken Soup for the Soul books, including Chicken Soup for the Soul: True Love.
