The Journey to Graduation Begins in Middle School: Parents Should Set Kids up for Success Sooner, Not Later

Preparing for high school while in middle school is just as important as preparing for college as a high schooler. Students today need a work ethic that will serve them well throughout high school, not one they are forced into by necessity once they start college. Read on for the help you need.

Lansing, MI (PRWEB) September 15, 2008 -- EduGuide is offering parents the opportunity to download a free copy of ''Middle School EduGuide,'' an online publication (www.EduGuide.org/mseduguide) that details strategies for raising a successful student. It also provides tips for keeping young adolescents safe.

EduGuide is a national nonprofit organization that provides many guides, tools, and resources to help parents make the most of their children's education, from cradle to college.

According to many experts, the middle school years are essential in developing a responsible, self-sufficient student. The more hard-working and goal-oriented your child is in middle school, the harder he will strive for success in high school, and eventually after graduation.

"In high school learning is much more independent without the one-on-one direction from teachers that kids are used to in elementary and middle school. More responsibility is placed on students to finish assignments without guidance," said Heath Nestle, science and English teacher at Shepherd Middle School. "Middle school is a perfect time for students to learn strategies that will help them make this transition and other transitions in their future."

EduGuide recently launched an online community where parents and students can ask questions, get advice, and share experiences. For more information, visit EduGuide.org.

EduGuide partners with DTE Energy Foundation, whose LEAD Program focuses its contributions and involvement on programs dedicated to developing the human and economic potential of the community it serves.
