The National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) would like to congratulate President-elect Barack Obama on his inspirational and historic win.

Washington, DC (PRWEB) November 10, 2008 -- The National Association of Health Services Executives (NAHSE) would like to congratulate President-elect Barack Obama on his inspirational and historic win. NAHSE is a 501 c(3) non-profit association of Black and minority healthcare executives founded in 1968 for the purpose of promoting the advancement and development of healthcare leaders and elevating the quality as well as access to health care services rendered to minority and underserved communities.

"The National Association of Health Services Executives would like to extend their congratulations to President-elect Barack Obama on his historic victory in Tuesday's election. We are confident that health care reform will continue to be at the forefront, as one of the single most important issues that President-elect Barack Obama will address during his presidency. Health care reform is the single most critical issue facing not only African-Americans and other minorities but all Americans today; second only to the economy. With forty-five (45) million Americans uninsured; health care reform has never been more needed in this country as it is today, considering the economic crisis and fallout that we are all facing," commented, Charlisa R. Watson, MHSA, executive director, NAHSE.

Though healthcare executives don't make direct decisions about patient care, they are responsible for allocating resources and for making other choices that affect the delivery of health care services.

"As the executive director of NAHSE, we are committed to increasing minorities' access to health care and increasing the number of Blacks and other minority healthcare executives in the profession. We look forward to meeting and working with the new Obama administration on developing a plan that will do just that. NAHSE's leadership and I remain committed to taking these steps and more to help bridge the gap in the delivery of health care services," continued Watson.

NAHSE recently celebrated its 40th anniversary while hosting their 23rd Annual Education Conference, Business Meeting, Exhibition and Diversity Recruitment Expo, which was held in Atlanta, Georgia. This year's conference theme -- ''Closing the Healthcare Divide to Improve Health Outcomes: The Integration of Services, Technology, Finance and Training'' -- embraced their mission of promoting the advancement and development of Black healthcare leaders by featuring leading Black executives in healthcare as keynotes and panelists, as they discussed elevating the quality of healthcare services rendered to minority and underserved communities. In addition, the President-elect, Denise Brooks-Williams, was sworn in as NAHSE's new President as she presided over the conference.

Health care reform has gained currency during this election, but for NAHSE, the quest for minority representation at the executive levels and top-notch health care at all levels of society did not end on Election Day. Log onto www.nahse.org for more information about NAHSE.
