Monitoring Management, MonMan, a 20-year HVAC and healthcare industry veteran, has completed an HVAC air quality upgrade project for a major healthcare provider’s cardiac intensive care unit.
“Our client is one of the nation’s largest healthcare providers and a cornerstone of the healthcare industry in the Southeast,” said MonMan Vice President Ryan Hulland. “MonMan replaced an aging air handler serving one of their most critical spaces.”
Aging infrastructure is a major hurdle healthcare providers must overcome to ensure the high levels of care patients expect. Providing clean, contaminant free air to operating and patient care rooms is a top priority.
“Many patients would be shocked at the conditions behind the scenes at some healthcare facilities. But the good news is: many organizations are working to upgrade legacy systems. The area we focus on is the air patients breathe. Decades of operation take their toll on the air handling systems serving hospitals, and we often encounter less-than-pristine ductwork and air handling units,” says Hulland.
“Through our partnership with Air Enterprises, our unique system allows healthcare facilities to easily replace aging HVAC infrastructure, even in the most convoluted, hard to reach areas of an old hospital,” continues Hulland.
While old ductwork and air handlers become burdened with dirt, dust and debris, patients and healthcare providers expect procedure rooms to be immaculately clean.
The reality is many healthcare facilities are a complex network of old and new areas, and major renovation is a complicated and expensive undertaking.
“The biggest question a facilities manager faces is: ‘How do I get a new air handler into the basement of this 40 year old hospital?’” says Ryan Hulland. “The good news is: we have the answer.”
MonMan produced a short video during the HVAC renovation project which documents the age and condition of the old equipment, as well as the installation of the new air handling equipment.
