Fourteen years ago, Jennifer Kelman was babysitting her tearful nephew, Henry, desperately trying to abate the tears he cried for his mother. Each night, Henry’s parents would call to check-in on Jennifer and their inconsolable little boy from their beach vacation. Just hearing his mother’s voice on the phone caused Henry to burst into a million tears. Unsure of how to comfort her nephew, Jennifer tried all sorts of antics from dancing to singing, all of which seemed to make him cry only harder. It was at that moment that Mrs. Pinkelmeyer™ came to life.
“I picked up the telephone and pretended to call a lady that I named Mrs. Pinkelmeyer™. The funnier the name sounded the more chance I thought I had that Henry would also think it was funny. I not only pretended to call her, I had to be her as well. And of course she had a British accent,” Jennifer recalls.
Almost instantly, Henry’s sobbing turned to laughter and Jennifer kept up her Mrs. Pinkelmeyer™ act. This continued for the rest of the week.
“Each night when my sister called to check-in, Henry would look to me to call and play Mrs. Pinkelmeyer™. We did this every night until they returned from a lovely and restful vacation. Henry is a young man in his teens now, but still remembers the joy of Mrs. Pinkelmeyer™ and it is a sweet memory that we will always share together,” Jennifer adds.
Wanting to share this heartening experience, Jennifer has launched a business selling Mrs. Pinkelmeyer™ products online. The site also features Mrs. Pinkelmeyer’s™ dog, Moopus McGlinden™ in plush form. In addition to the dolls, Jennifer’s site also features a CD of Mrs. Pinkelmeyer’s™ music, books, temporary tattoos and other fun downloads.
Jennifer hopes that Mrs. Pinkelmeyer™ can help create similar warm memories with other families as it did in her home.

A greeting from Mrs. Pinkelmeyer:
Greeeetings! My name is Mrs. Pinkelmeyer™. I was just a simple lady living in Poppingham, England, with my dog Moopus McGlinden™, when something very unusual happened.
One night the phone rang as I was making a delicious rrrrump rrrroast. It was a young woman calling allll the way from New York City! Can you imagine that? Poor dear- she was so distraught. She was taking care of her nephew, Henry, while his parents were on vacation. I could hear the boy crying in the background. The young woman told me he was sad because he missed his parents.
He sounded like such a sweet boy that I decided right then and there that I would do my very best to cheer him up, even though Moopus McGlinden was nipping at my heels. I told him about the delicious rrrrump rrrroast I was cooking for Moopus and me and asked him if he liked rrrrump rrrroast. He laughed and giggled and sounded just so delightful that I couldn’t help myself and sang him my favorite song, “Mrs. Pinkelmeyer sends, all her love across the land, change your frown into a grin, she’ll make you happy.”
