“I’m pleased to welcome Andrée into this exceptional group of professional women,” said NAPW President Star Jones. “Her knowledge and experience in her industry are valuable assets to her company and community.”
Beginning her career as an Educator, Dr. Andrée Scown taught in various settings and grade levels, including elementary to university instruction, and all in-between. Through her experience in the education field, she knows the need for strong social and emotional skills and recognized that educational leaders lacked training in those critical areas. After much research, Dr. Scown founded the Center for Social and Emotional (CSE) Leadership. As Director, she provides training in social and emotional skills for a variety of leaders from diverse backgrounds and professions.
According to the company’s website, “CSE Leadership provides cutting-edge training to help leaders improve the way they work with and through people to lead effective change and growth in their organizations. Research shows that leaders who have strong social and emotional intelligence are the most successful leaders.” Dr. Scown offers training through individual and team consultations, on-site coaching, seminars and retreats. There, the leaders can develop the level of social and emotional intelligence necessary to increase staff morale, motivation, cohesiveness and efficacy.
Dr. Scown has received training from UC San Diego’s Rady Center for Executive Development and the Institute for Mindful Leadership in New York. She obtained her Ph.D. in Educational Leadership and is a past participant of the Social and Emotional Learning Summer Institute at the UC Berkeley Graduate School of Education.
