Garden City, NY (PRWEB) June 19, 2012

The Los Angeles Local Chapter gathered on May 16th for a professional evening networking meeting in Beverly Hills, California.

Ruth Garcia-Corrales, Los Angeles Local Chapter President, welcomed all returning and new members to the NAPW Los Angeles Chapter meeting. Ruth relayed to the members and guests that this meeting’s discussion and presentation will be on “work smarter not harder”.

Next Ruth introduced guest speaker and presenter Ruth Klein, who is the Owner of The Marketing Time Source. She is also a Branding and Productivity Coach and Author of six books.

Ruth focused her presentation on the principles of “working smarter, not harder” and the importance of Sleep.

“Women in particular think that they can save some time by sleeping less and this is not true.” Said Ruth. “In fact, more mistakes, errors, and communication issues happen at the expense of getting less z’s.”

She also mentioned that everything takes energy and if we force our way through the day, this will contribute to draining most of one’s energy stored in their body. When someone’s energy units are depleted they start to borrow energy from other sources within the body, and everyone knows how that feels.

“Another excellent approach to working smarter and not harder is to know your Personal Brand and your Business Brand,” said Ruth.

When someone is clear on their personal brand then their business brand becomes very transparent. Ruth shared a brand case using Ben & Jerry’s Ice Cream as an example of a transparent personal and business brand. Klein shared that she was a customer before she ever tasted their ice cream.

This is an ice cream company that is very employee-centric and has employee mission statements on the walls of some of their parlors.

The names of the flavors are also fun since Ben & Jerry both wanted to have fun with their business. Klein mentioned another branded company, Zappo’s, which is the online shoe company now owned by Amazon. Zappo’s CEO invested a lot of their profits back into the business in the form of “wow” customer service.

Search Engine Optimization is another way Klein shared which helps a business person to work smarter and not harder. She suggested that it is important not to delay the creation of a website and to get it up as soon as they can, even before they make it perfect. Ruth suggested that businesses should start blogging and contact different media outlets as they are always looking for new content.

Ruth suggested that one should review their relationship with time and money and to identify if they are an under paid, or if they feel as if they should be getting paid more than they are. Ruth specializes in helping businesses move through money and time resistance.

Ruth Garcia-Corrales handed out a copy of the 2012 calendar to everyone with the dates of meetings, so members can plan ahead. The ladies discussed topics for each meeting. The topic for June was approved.

One of the topics at May’s meeting was the amazing NAPW Local Chapter Facebook that Olivia Lam had volunteered to create. She is now the Community Manager for their Social Media.

The Chapter’s next meeting is to be held on Wednesday, June 13th from 8:00-10:00am at Factors Deli, 9420 West Pico Boulevard, Los Angeles, CA 90035. The Topic for June’s meeting will be “How You Are Protecting Your Assets”.
