Members and guests of the NAPW Prescott, AZ Local Chapter gathered for the first time in August and again in September for professional networking meetings. At the Chapter’s launch meeting on August 23rd, Career and Life Coach Patti Moore shared tips with members and guests about how to identify life and career strengths and weaknesses. The expert followed up on her informative presentation at the Chapter’s September 20th networking meeting.
NAPW Prescott, AZ Local Chapter President Alexandra Piacenza kicked off the Chapter’s launch meeting, where members and guests were treated to coffee, lemonade, and dessert, with a warm welcome to all of the evening’s attendees.
The room was filled with women representing an array of professions including marketing, health specialists (patient advocacy and Alzheimer family counseling), data analytics, strategic planning, innovative beauty products, library science, academic advising and administration, and even construction.
“NAPW is the nation’s largest and most powerful network of female executives, professionals, and entrepreneurs in virtually every industry and profession, and never was that more true than at the Prescott, AZ Local Chapter’s launch meeting!,” said Alexandra .
Before inviting the attendees to introduce themselves and exchange business cards, the President spoke briefly about the benefits of NAPW membership.
“I can’t emphasize enough the enormous value to entrepreneurs through exposure on napw.com and the broad array of business training offered to all members at nominal and, in many cases, no cost,” said the Chapter President.
Alexandra next introduced the evening’s guest speaker Patti Moore. Now a Career and Life Coach, Ms. Moore is a former Human Resources and Community Relations Executive. She began her presentation by pointing out the prevalence of focusing on weaknesses in our culture, in everything from work performance reviews to the political process. She shared the liberating effect of identifying and leveraging the areas of true talent in oneself and others.
Ms. Moore went on to say that business managers need not pour their best energies into trying to ‘fix’ the weaknesses of their employees but rather steer them toward doing what they do best and pair staff with complementary talents to accomplish mutual goals.
“This approach is also a boon to individuals who can release a long-held focus on shortcomings to recognizing and capitalizing on their unique gifts,” Ms. Moore told attendees.
Members and guests each received a free copy of StrengthsFinder 2.0 by Tom Rath. The book includes an access code for taking the StrengthsFinder talent assessment online and everyone was encouraged to take the assessment since Ms. Moore would be at the next meeting to discuss the results. The September 20th networking meeting was held in the Elsea Conference Room at the beautiful Prescott Library. The topic was a follow up to the presentation by Patti Moore at the August meeting. The Prescott Chapter President welcomed everyone to the meeting and once again, introduced Ms. Moore to the audience.
“Attendees shared the results of their StrengthsFinder assessment and Patti led us in a discussion about the strengths we had in common and how those could be leveraged to achieve greater personal and professional success,” said the Chapter President.
