Stress comes to us from many stressors: childhood beliefs, sleep deprivation, loss, divorce, work, even good events...Fifty percent of all Americans are under stress.

Garden City, NY (PRWEB) October 25, 2012

Members and guests of the NAPW Westchester County, NY Local Chapter gathered on October 18th for a professional networking meeting at the Caffé Azzurri in Hartsdale, NY. The evening’s guest speaker was Dr. Thelma Jones, a member of the Westchester County, NY Local Chapter. She educated members and guests on the dangers of hidden stress and how to better manage its negative effects.

This was the Chapter’s fourth networking meeting. Of the nearly 20 members and guests present, four were new members and two were guests. All enjoyed Caffé Azzurri’s classic décor, ambient intimacy, and Happy Hour half-priced drinks and hors d’oeuvres. For more information on the venue and to make reservations, visit cafeazzurri.com.

NAPW Westchester County, NY Local Chapter President Sara O. Speicher opened the meeting by welcoming the attendees, including the new members and guests. She thanked the membership for completing the Chapter Surveys that were distributed at last month’s meeting.

“Thank you all for completing the surveys and for volunteering your time to help make the Westchester County Local Chapter great!” said Sara.

Sara announced that the survey results along with the names of the new Chapter Board Members and Chapter Committee Members would be posted on the Westchester County, NY Local Chapter Page on napw.com and the results and new appointees would also be introduced at the November 15th Chapter meeting. Sara then invited members and guests to introduce themselves and tell a little bit about their professions in a networking go-round.

Next, Chapter Vice President Crystal Cutler introduced NAPW Westchester County, NY Local Chapter member and guest speaker for the evening, Dr. Thelma Jones. An Integrative M.D., Dr. Jones is board certified in internal medicine and hematology with 35 years of experience in western medicine and oncology specializing in chronic physical and emotional conditions.

“All of our presentations are exciting, but tonight’s presentation is made extra special because it comes from one of our very own,” Crystal said to the crowd. “Tonight, she will educate us on what the hidden stress in your life is doing to you and how to transform it. Join me in welcoming NAPW Westchester County, NY Chapter’s own, Dr. Thelma Jones.”

After a rousing applause Dr. Thelma, as she has come to be affectionately known, held members and guests captive with her presentation.

“Stress comes to us from many stressors: childhood beliefs, sleep deprivation, loss, divorce, work, even good events, internal thoughts, and environmental factors like herbicides and pesticides,” said Dr. Thelma. “Fifty percent of all Americans are under stress.”

As Dr. Thelma explained to the audience, what stress does to us ranges from leaving us feeling overwhelmed to depleting our nutrients, causing memory shrinks, and inflammatory conditions. Stress is the major contributing factor to the onset of most illness.

“We can take control. We can prevent aging. Wellness is a self-help/self-care process, not a do-it-yourself process,” Dr. Thelma added. “Stick with an organic, alkaline diet.”

Her Dirty Dozen Foods to buy and eat organically are celery, peaches, strawberries, apples, blueberries, nectarines, bell peppers, spinach, kale, cherries, potatoes, and imported grapes.

Among her many how-to’s for transformation: commit to taking care of yourself. Work to put together a program of three lifestyle transitions that include: exercise, sleep, and nutrition and at your foundation, start with supplements.

“We simply don’t get all of our nutrients from foods alone anymore,” said Dr. Thelma.

The doctor conducts free supplement evaluations. Schedule an appointment at docthel(at)gmail(dot)com or by calling her office 914.713.0789.
