Members and guests of the NAPW The Woodlands, TX Local Chapter braved the severe weather on January 9th and gathered for a professional networking meeting. “While the heavy rain cancelled what was to be the Chapter’s official launch, it could not dampen the spirits of the group of professional women who attended the Chapter’s first networking meeting of 2013,” said NAPW Woodlands Chapter President Katherine Seitan-Frowijn. The meeting was held at Tuscany Ristorante in The Woodlands Waterway Marriott Hotel & Convention Center.
“The continuous and heavy rain over the previous 48 hours caused area flooding and effectively cancelled what was to be our official Chapter launch by flooding in our event photographer and Chapter members,” said the Chapter President.
At the January networking meeting, the President greeted members and guests and thanked them for making it out in such bad weather. The meeting continued with everyone introducing themselves and exchanging business cards with one another.
The Chapter President then called the meeting to order by addressing the first agenda topic: Permanent Meeting Time – One Meeting Time per Month. Previously, lunch and after-work meeting times were offered to members and guests. But in an effort to maximize meeting attendance while giving everyone the best opportunity to network with their fellow members as a whole group, as opposed to separate networking groups, it was decided the best meeting time for future meetings would be in the evening. Going forward, all meetings will be held on the first Wednesday of every month from 7:00 to 8:30pm. If it is too close to a holiday, the meeting will take place on the following Wednesday.
The President then moved on to the next agenda topic: Formation of the NAPW The Woodlands Local Chapter Board. Sherri Sagari and Elizabeth Santangelo were named Chapter Chairperson One and Chairperson Two, respectively. They will assist the President with scouting for speakers, presentation material, events at which to volunteer, and event opportunities to attend as a group. Trudy Rivich is the Chapter Social Coordinator with Dianne Buck as her back-up. They will be responsible for taking photographs at Chapter events and posting them on the Chapter Page, as well as on the Chapter’s Facebook Page. The Chapter President will also take on the role of Chapter Historian and will be responsible for recording and submitting the meeting minutes.
The final agenda topic was Qualification as a Chapter for the NAPW Chapter Reward Program. The President distributed a brief outline of requirements for individual members to qualify together as a NAPW Local Chapter. She also discussed examples of how the Chapter would use the reward if The Woodlands Chapter were to win.
The Chapter President closed the meeting, thanking everyone for a great networking event and reminded everyone to watch for upcoming details regarding the revised date for the Chapter’s official launch, which is rescheduled for February 6th.

Guest attendees were: Cinda Whaylen and Kathy Hirschfield, guest of Chapter President Katherine Seitan-Frowijn, through the public registration website, EventBrite. Both Cinda and Kathy expressed interest in NAPW membership.
The National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) is the largest and most recognized network of female professionals.
