Roberta Charlotte Pevear, writer, state representative and legal secretary, has attained the highest level of membership to the National Association of Professional Women (NAPW) as a VIP Woman of the Year and has been recognized for outstanding leadership and commitment within her profession.
Mrs. Pevear spent over three decades in business administration and law before the desire to enrich her community led her to serve as a New Hampshire State Representative, where she became a vital contributor to the security and prosperity of her neighborhood. Through her collaboration with State legislative committees, she became established as an exceptional leader and town pioneer. She proposed various acts of legislation, including a community evacuation plan that was passed after a nuclear plant was placed in the area.
Now retired, Mrs. Pevear decided to further enrich her professional development through a hands-on project that entailed the transcribing of 150-year-old letters written between her great-grandfather and great-grandmother during the Civil War. Through these timeless letters, she co-wrote her nonfiction story, Write Quick: War and A Woman's Life in Letters 1835-1867, which provides a riveting glimpse into the life of a Union woman's life during the war. The book is now in the State House library in Concord, N.H., and has been placed into the Daughters of the American Revolution Library. In response to its success, Mrs. Pevear hopes to find the support she needs to have her book made into a Documentary.
For her demonstrated leadership and dedication to her community in which her perseverance and success yielded to the exceptional determination and intellectual creativity in creating her book, Roberta C. Pevear is a role model and inspiration to the membership of NAPW.
The National Association of Professional Women is a network where nearly 500,000 professional women come together to interact, exchange ideas and empower themselves. Through a network of close to 400 local NAPW chapters nationwide, members make use of networking, educational tools and other valuable privileges of membership.
