The National Defense Industrial Association (NDIA), Homeland Security Division will present their highest award, the America Secure Award to the U.S. Department of Homeland Security’s Customs and Border Protection (CBP) Directorate on March 11th, 2010. Selected by the Division’s membership at the end of 2009, the America Secure Award recognizes a deserving individual or organization for their contributions to making the United States a more secure and prosperous nation.
In addition to presenting the Award to CBP’s leadership, the Division’s membership will also pay tribute to the leadership of three of CBP’s distinguished individuals:
In presenting the America Secure Award, NDIA Homeland Security Division Chairman, Rich Cooper added, “Every day our nation is watched over by the tireless efforts of the men and women of the U.S. Customs and Border Patrol. Our Division is inherently proud to highlight their tremendous service and sacrifice and to recognize some of their distinguished leaders for answering the call of duty to the homeland.”
This is the third time the America Secure Award will be presented. Previous Awardees include the Honorable Jim Gilmore, former Governor, Commonwealth of Virginia and Chair of U.S. Congressional Advisory Panel to Assess Domestic Response Capabilities for Terrorism Involving Weapons of Mass Destruction (known as the Gilmore Commission); and the Honorable Paul McHale, former Assistant Secretary for Homeland Defense and former Member, U.S. House of Representatives.
