New York, NY (PRWEB) July 11, 2012
The driver and 23 passengers on board a low-fare casino bus were injured in a bus accident in New York, reported The New York Times (7/4/2012). Auto accident lawyers at The Perecman Firm understand the bus hit a center median barrier on Interstate 95 in New Rochelle, crossed over three lanes, then slid approximately 500 feet along a concrete barrier.
The bus had left the Foxwoods Resort Casino in Connecticut and was heading home to Flushing, Queens, New York at the time of the bus accident. [The New York Times reported that no other vehicles were involved.
This latest New York bus accident happened approximately two miles away from the site of the March 2011 bus crash that killed 15 people on a casino bus traveling to Manhattan.
This bus accident also follows the largest single federal crackdown on the low-cost bus industry which occurred in May. Federal transportation safety officials shut down more than two dozen low-fare bus operations that mostly ferried passengers along the East Coast I-95 corridor, reported [The New York Times(6/1/2012). The crackdown came after a series of fatal bus accidents in the past few years.
“Bus operators must comply with federal and state regulations. If safety rules are ignored, passengers and other motorists are at serious risk,” said New York auto accident lawyer Perecman.
David Perecman understands, the Star Tag tour bus involved in this latest bus accident was not closed in the crackdown.
