Although accidents happen, not all accidents have to happen.
New York, New York (PRWEB) December 04, 2012
A passenger bus crashed into a private home in Long Island, New York killing a 6-year-old boy and injuring 10 others. The bus was trying to avoid a pedestrian who was crossing the street, reported The Wall Street Journal. This truly unfortunate accident means the family needs to obtain legal advice that applies to their unique situation, said New York auto accident lawyer David Perecman, founder of The Perecman Firm.
The child, David Granados, was inside his home when the Nassau Inter County Express bus crashed into it, the WSJ reported.
According to the WSJ, the bus driver saw the pedestrian and sounded the horn to alert the man to get out of the way. The pedestrian did not get out of the way fast enough. The driver swerved and hit him before hitting the house. The pedestrian suffered non-life threatening injuries.
“It is not certain whether the bus driver could have stopped the bus before striking the pedestrian,” said Perecman. “A thorough New York lawyer needs to investigate the crash scene, the circumstances, bus maintenance records and many other details of the accident.”
Bus accidents can be caused by a variety of situations ranging from driver negligence to weather conditions to poor vehicle maintenance.
Investigators are checking the bus for brake and safety checks, said the WSJ.
“Although accidents happen, not all accidents have to happen,” said Perecman. “A number of accidents can be avoided. When individuals are killed in preventable accidents, their loved ones may deserve compensation for their loss.”
New York auto accident lawyers at The Perecman Firm understand that no matter what caused a vehicular accident, the family of a person who was killed may be able to bring a wrongful death claim against a negligent driver. If the accident involved a transit bus, the family may be able to file a wrongful death claim against others, as well. These others may include the bus company, bus system and-or county.
