Halifax, NS (PRWEB) February 01, 2012
Halifax celebrates Nova Scotia cuisine as it once again enters the culinary spotlight, playing host to an outstanding collection of events showcasing the best local creations from sea, land and vine.
The Halifax Nova Scotia gastronomic celebrations kick off Feb. 1, with Dine Around which has 11 participating restaurants in Halifax offering delicious three-course prix fixe menus for the entire month. Since 2012 is a leap year, diners have one extra day to take advantage of this special deal. In addition to Dine Around, the Savour Food & Wine Festival presents three marquee events at Casino Nova Scotia this month that are not to be missed. And those in search of something sinfully sweet can find what they’re looking for on Feb. 2 when Decadence brings together the finest cheeses, chocolate and wine for an evening of indulgence.
Other Halifax events include the Rare & Fine Wine Tasting. Over 20 wines never before available in Nova Scotia will be on hand for one night only at the Rare & Fine Wine Tasting, which is sure to be a hit with wine enthusiasts. Wines rated 90 points and above by major wine publications are featured at this special tasting set to take place on Feb. 17. Later in the month on Feb. 23, the Savour Food & Wine Show gives attendees the opportunity to feast on luscious food samples and enjoy incredible wine tastings from culinary professionals stationed at close to 50 different booths.
Nova Scotia travel in February is a must to experience the fifth annual Nova Scotia Icewine Festival which runs from Feb. 2-12 and is far more than just wine-tastings. Many of the festival’s events pair Nova Scotia’s internationally award-winning Icewines with gourmet meals showcasing everything from Nova Scotia lobster to Digby scallops prepared by acclaimed chefs. Some vineyard excursions also include unique winter experiences such as tobogganing, snow-shoeing, sleigh rides, ice hockey and vine-pruning presentations.
