San Francisco, CA (PRWEB) August 19, 2010
Novogradac & Company LLP, a certified national public accounting and consulting firm active in the low-income housing tax credit (LIHTC) program for more than 20 years, will, at its annual affordable housing tax credit conference in late September, bring together the lenders and investors, syndicators, developers, accountants, and other industry participants who continue to contribute to the LIHTC program’s success. The event, held at San Francisco’s Parc 55 Hotel, September 30 and October 1, will allow practitioners to discuss the program’s direction and future vitality, as well as the strategies needed in today’s economic and political climate.
Carol Galante, Deputy Assistant Secretary of the Multifamily Housing Office of the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD) will keynote the 17th Annual Affordable Housing Tax Credit Conference luncheon on Thursday, September 30, 2010. Before accepting her HUD appointment in 2009, Galante, who has been described by HUD Secretary Shaun Donovan as “one of the nation’s most innovative affordable housing leaders,” served as president and CEO of San Francisco’s BRIDGE Housing Corp.
Conference panels will address issues vital to today’s successful LIHTC ventures: how to work with non-traditional partners and access non-traditional funding; the value of combining historic and low-income housing tax credits; and the emergence of a new breed of investor and investment. According to Robert Thesman, conference chair and partner in the firm’s San Francisco office, all panels are representative of the types of discussions and considerations crucial to the practitioner who does not want to get left behind in an industry that is moving forward.
“The economic downturn and the legislation passed to address it have changed the face of the LIHTC program and, consequently, how successful practitioners work within it. Not only does an event such as this allow us to assess where the industry is at today but it also encourages innovation, enables our continued education and ensures that we are taking full advantage of the opportunities the program presents. Without understanding the rules, regulations and strategies behind the program, its full potential cannot be realized,” Thesman says.
In addition to presenting a wealth of information, the conference boasts a line-up of the industry’s elite. Conference panelists, prominent in the affordable housing community and chosen for their expertise, will break into comprehensive pieces the latest industry information and legislation and help facilitate the networking necessary to get deals done.
Novogradac & Company LLP’s affordable housing tax credit conference offers opportunity to mingle not only in the classroom but also at a number of networking occasions. Along with numerous networking breaks held between the days’ sessions, attendees can converse with colleagues at the keynote luncheon, two networking breakfasts and a reception that will be held from 5 to 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 30.
The conference will also feature two full-day pre-conference workshops: LIHTC Basics and LIHTC Investors Basics will be held Wednesday, September 29. Registration is separate and additional fees apply.
Additionally, an LIHTC Property Compliance Workshop, expanded to cover the changes brought about by the modifications to the 2010 rent and income limits, will be held September 30 and October 1. Novogradac & Company’s Property Manager Certification is given upon passing the property managers exam.
