Americans Misled About Omega 3, According to Omega Cure Manufacturer Ambo Health

The study, published in the Journal of the American College of Cardiology (JACC), compared the blood levels of Japanese men with those of Japanese-American men. The Japanese men, who consumed three times as much effective omega 3 as their American counterparts, had one-third less incidence of arteriosclerosis, a finding that excluded genetic differences and may explain why Japan now has the longest-living population and lowest rate of heart disease in the Western world.
The average EPA/DHA consumption in the United States, however, is equivalent to the bottom five percent of the Japanese' intake.
Experts have calculated that Americans need to take at least one extra gram of EPA/DHA per day to reach the same blood levels as the average Japanese. That is equivalent to four regular fish oil capsules or eating two oz of "oily" fish every day.

Leading EPA/DHA specialist Professor W. Harris of the University of South Dakota wrote in a JACC editorial that omega 3 can have a profound impact on arteriosclerosis, but it requires a lifelong commitment to increased EPA/DHA intake.
