Omnetics Connector Corporation, the leading manufacturer of nano-miniature ruggedized connectors, has announced its capability of terminating multiple lines of ultra-fine coaxial cable in nano miniature electrical connectors. Their proprietary process of terminating signals and grounds on separate contact pairs allows for extreme miniaturization of multi-contact high speed connectors. This innovative design makes is possible for multiple bulky single contact RF style connectors to be replaced by a single multi-conductor coax connector. The size and weight savings make these connectors an ideal choice for Satellites, UAV’s and Optics applications where size, quality and signal integrity are all mission critical.
Terminating multiple lines of such fine coax on .025” (.635 mm) centerlines requires special tools and processing by skilled technicians. Omnetics incorporates this process in several different configurations of nano connector including: single and dual row strips, MIL-32139 Bi-Lobe® styles and even a new nano circular package. Due to the highly specialized nature of these assemblies engineer to engineer dialogue is encouraged to ensure a customized fit to each application. Digital transmission speeds over 2 Gb/sec and analog frequencies of above 3 Ghz are now possible in ruggedized nano packages.
