Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center Honored with Elusive Gold Elite 'Double Crown'
Distinguished Awards Place Orlando-Area Resort at Top of Industry

Meetings and Conventions magazine has announced that Gaylord Palms Resort & Convention Center in Kissimmee, Fla. is the winner of its two highest honors for 2008: Gold Platter Elite and Gold Key Elite Awards.
The annual awards, established to define the "best of the best," honors the top meetings property (Gold Key Elite) and catering department (Gold Platter Elite) based on overall professionalism and quality, as well as excellence displayed in creativity and culinary experience. In earning their 'Elite' status, winning properties were not only voted as one of the finest experienced by M&C readers, but these outstanding hotels and catering departments finished among the top five overall worldwide in each category - as measured by total votes cast by the industry.
Basing their selections on the overall quality, M&C selected these Gold Key Elite and Gold Platter Elite properties as the finest they've experienced for 2008. This year, 199 hotels and resorts were honored as Gold Key winners, and a total of 30 domestic and international properties were honored as Gold Platter winners. In each category, only five achieved the 'Elite' level.
M&C readers, representing the highest level of meeting and incentive professionals, based their selections on strict criteria which included: enthusiasm and professionalism of staff; quality of food presentation; creativity of menu; originality of theme-party concepts; helpfulness and budgeting considerations; excellence of staff service and ambiance of dining rooms. In addition, the resort was judged on: staff attitude; quality of meeting rooms; quality of guest services; quality of food and beverage service; proficiency of handling reservations; technical/support equipment, and range of recreational facilities.

Gaylord Palms Resort has earned the Gold Key Award every year since 2003. The resort was honored with the Gold Key Elite and Gold Platter Elite designations in 2004 and 2007 respectively.
Gaylord Palms Resort has been honored in 2008 with several prestigious meetings industry awards, including the Medical Meetings Merit & Distinction Award, Corporate Meetings & Incentives Paragon Award, Successful Meetings Pinnacle Award, and Association Meetings Inner Circle Award.
The resort will be featured in Meetings and Conventions' Gold Awards issue, published this November.
