Chihuahuas to Tear Up the Race Track

Search for America's fastest Chihuahua continues Saturday.

(Vocus/PRWEB ) May 10, 2007 -- Hundreds of Chihuahuas and their proud parents are expected to put their talents to the test this weekend at regional races held in Boston, Dallas, Phoenix, San Francisco and Orange County, Calif.. These tiny competitors will race in heats of 10 along a 1/18th furlong (35-foot-long) track to claim regional fame and the chance to compete for the coveted title of America's Fastest Chihuahua. The winner from each regional race will be awarded a trip to San Diego to compete against 14 other regional champions in the national finals in front of cheering crowds between innings of a major league baseball game at PETCO Park, home to the San Diego Padres, on Sept. 2, 2007.

The New York event was one of five regional races held today. Other markets included Miami, Chicago, Sacramento and Los Angeles. The New York race was held at the Valley Stream, NY, PETCO store as part of the third annual Chihuahua races to determine the fastest Chihuahua in the nation. Nearly 900 Chihuahuas raced at the five regional races. Winners from the regional races this weekend, along with winners from races that are to occur during the next two weekends, will advance to the national finals at PETCO Park in San Diego on Sept. 2.
