What do children love even more than watching a parade? Participating in one!
And that is exactly what Colorado-area toddlers and their older siblings will have the opportunity to do on Sunday, September 5th, as part of the 2010 Boulder Tikeapalooza, a free afternoon of fun, friendship and recreation in support of the Jerry Lewis MDA Labor Day Weekend Telethon.
“No need for your toddlers to be mere bystanders,” says Dean Rotbart, coordinator of this year's Tikeapalooza fundraiser. “On Sunday, toddlers can join the parade.”
Toddlers will set off on a biking processional at Boulder Indoor Cycling, circling the base of its fabulous 138-meter Velodrome – one of only two indoor Velodromes in the United States. Parents and friends are encouraged to bring their cameras and capture the occasion.
The ‘Parade of Tike Bikers’ begins at 12:30 p.m. Children with bikes should bring them and arrive early. Strider PREBikes for Toddlers (TM), the event’s lead sponsor, will also have loaner bikes on hand for children 18 months to 6 years of age. Strider PREBikes (TM) are durable, virtually maintenance free, and designed for the shorter leg-lengths and less-developed muscle power of toddlers.
The entire Tikeapalooza event runs from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. and will include indoor biking on 18,000 square feet of trails; arts and crafts; entertainers; and light snacks and drinks. Children 12 and under and their parents are free.
The 2010 Boulder Tikeapalooza will be held at Boulder Indoor Cycling, located at 3550 Frontier Avenue in Boulder. The indoor bike center is located a short drive from Denver, Ft. Collins, Greeley and other front-range communities.
Registration is available in advance at http://www.tikeapalooza.com or on the day of the event, beginning at 10 a.m. Teens and adults who wish to bike will be requested to make a small donation to MDA.
Thanks to the generosity of Tikeapalooza’s co-sponsors, the more children who participate, the more funds that will be generated for MDA. Area co-sponsors include: Art & Style Baking; Boulder Canyon Natural Foods; Boulder Ice Cream; Clementine Art; Competitor Magazine; The Farrar Side; Germ Proof Your Kids; Izze; NewsBios; Repro Services; and Skinny Crisps.
Additional sponsorship and exhibition opportunities are available. Those interested should contact Rotbart by email or phone.
