Berkeley, California (PRWEB) June 17, 2014
Vivacare, a leading provider of patient education services for physicians, today announced a major upgrade to its free, web-based service and the opportunity for physician assistants, nurse practitioners and other medical professionals to enroll.
In just minutes, physicians and other medical professionals can create their own Health Library with hundreds of patient handouts, videos and other resources that can be printed in the office, viewed on a mobile device or displayed on their own practice website.
The Health Library provides patients with health information from the source they trust most.…their own doctor. The Library can be easily integrated into the practice website, enhancing it with in-depth resources for patients to learn more about their condition and treatment options. The educational content is personalized with the medical practice name and easily customized to reflect the professional’s medical specialty and unique approach to care.
The new Vivacare service includes several major enhancements including mobile-friendly content, a new interface and the addition of over 400 new patient education titles. The content has been organized into disease education modules, or "Centers", with up-to-date resources. For instance, the “Asthma Center” provides printable handouts on different types of asthma and asthma medications, videos on how to use an inhaler, an asthma diary that helps patients track their asthma symptoms, and other asthma management tools. In addition, the number of Spanish-language titles has been expanded to serve the needs of Spanish-speaking patients.
Over 8,000 medical professionals and their patients presently benefit from the Vivacare service. “This is one of the best things we have done for our practice,” said dermatologist Dr. Eliot Mostow of Akron Dermatology. "I am very impressed with the range and depth of the content and think it’s a tremendous resource for my patients. I recommend the Vivacare service to all of my colleagues," said Dr. Purushotham Kotha, M.D, FACC, a cardiologist in La Mesa, CA.
Vivacare supports the needs of more than 20 medical specialties, including allergy, cardiology, dermatology, gastroenterology, neurology, pediatrics, rheumatology and primary care. For instance, allergists access titles about allergic rhinitis, anaphylaxis and asthma while neurologists are given access to content about Alzheimer’s disease, epilepsy and multiple sclerosis. Patient education content is provided from multiple reputable sources, including medical publishers, professional organizations, disease advocacy organizations and federal health agencies, such as the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Center for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC).
“We are very excited to provide our physicians with more robust educational resources, and make the Vivacare service available to a wider range of medical professionals as they become increasingly active in the delivery of patient care,” said Dr. Mark Becker, pediatrician and founder of Vivacare. “Vivacare's goal is to provide clinicians with tools that improve patient care and enhance the physician-patient relationship and our new service brings us that much closer." Previous surveys performed by Vivacare showed that 90% of enrolled physicians appreciate the Vivacare service and more than 95% stated that the service improves clinical care, patient satisfaction, and patient convenience.
