Pets over the age of 7 years are prone to age-related diseases. They are at the point in their lives that is equivalent to us at 50 years of age. With changing activity levels and metabolism, older dogs and cats may experience weight problems, heart disease, kidney or thyroid disease, dental problems or cancer. Regular exams for our senior pets are very important.

Our patients in our senior health care program are admitted for the day. Our doctors perform a complete and thorough physical exam, followed by appropriate laboratory tests such as an electrocardiogram, blood pressure measurement, chest and abdominal radiographs, Complete Blood Count, blood chemistries, thyroid testing and evaluation of stool and urine samples.

At the time of discharge, the doctor will discuss the test results and suggest any medications, supplements or dietary changes that would be beneficial.
