Petland Novi Applauds Greater Accessibility of Pet Prescriptions

More than 60 percent of Stop & Shop’s customers are pet owners. To accommodate their pet’s needs, the grocery chain is now offering prescription services for pets, according to a recent story in The Wall Street Journal. The company has partnered with PetCareRx to fulfill the prescription needs of its many pet owners. So now, pet owners can pick up prescriptions for themselves and their pets at a Stop & Shop pharmacy. Petland Novi, a Michigan-based pet store, supports the new service, which is convenient for pet owners with busy schedules.

Stop & Shop has more than 400 stores throughout Massachusetts, Connecticut, Rhode Island, New Hampshire, New York and New Jersey. The company is a supporter of local communities fighting hunger, combating childhood cancer and promoting the health and wellness of its customers, which now includes canines and felines.

“At Stop & Shop, we recognize that pets are members of the family and their health and well-being are of great importance to our customers,” said Suzi Robinson, manager of public and community relations for Stop & Shop New England Division. “We’re pleased to offer this great convenience for shoppers to pick up prescriptions for their pets when they pick up prescriptions for others in their family.”

Stop & Shop will offer three of the most common pet prescriptions that previously were only available at veterinary offices and online vet pharmacies. These medications include Heartguard Plus, Rimadyl and Frontline Plus.

For prescriptions that are unable to be filled at the store, Stop & Shop will fill and ship the medication directly to the owner’s home within days. In addition, customers will earn Gas Rewards points for pet prescriptions purchased at Stop & Shop.

Randy Horowitz, owner of Petland Novi, said many times, people get so busy they forget to order medicine from the veterinarian or stop by the vet’s office to pick up a prescription. But now, thanks to Stop & Shop, pet owners won’t have to worry about that hassle anymore, he said.

“Stop & Shop is making it more available to the everyday consumer which allows them to pick up their pets medications at the same time as their families medications, ensuring that all involved are healthy and happy,” said Randy Horowitz of Petland Novi.
