Philadelphia, PA (PRWEB) July 23, 2012
Two hotels in Philadelphia Center City turned the sour fight against cancer into sweet, sweet success in a recent charity event.
The teams from the Residence Inn Philadelphia Center City Hotel and the Courtyard Philadelphia Downtown Hotel joined together to fight childhood cancer. Inspired by Alex Scott’s original lemonade stand, these two hotels in downtown Philadelphia started their own lemonade stand. All proceeds from these sales went directly to Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation, which aims to find a cure for cancer.
Alex’s Lemonade Stand Foundation was started in 2005 by Alex’s parents after their heroic daughter passed away from childhood cancer. The organization continues Alex’s efforts to raise money and empower everyone in the fight against cancer.
The lemonade stand created by the Philadelphia Center City hotels sold lemonade during the week of June 4, 2012 and raised over $4,000 for the foundation. Both of these Marriott hotels are committed to finding a cure for cancer and plan for this year’s event to be the first of many.
