Atlanta, GA (Billboard Publicity Wire/PRWEB ) February 11, 2009 -- Atlanta-based pianist/keyboardist Doug Astrop (http://www.dougastrop.com) has released Audio Visual, a new instrumental album, on which he re-makes (or re-imagines) well-known songs from the world of film and television.

These new recordings are not sound-a-likes but rather fresh, contemporary takes on these classic songs. The original versions have underscored unforgettable moments in films and television programs such as Scarface, Miami Vice, CSI: New York, A Charlie Brown Christmas, At Close Range, Halloween, The Exorcist and St. Elmo's Fire to name a few.

The songs explore many different emotional and musical styles ranging from rock (Baba O'Riley, Crockett's Theme) to playful jazz (Linus & Lucy) to somber elegy (Tony's Theme) to industrial aggression (Assault on Precinct 13) to delicate longing (Live to Tell) to love (Love Theme from St. Elmo's Fire) to brassy blues (Peter Gunn) to terror (Halloween Theme, Twilight Zone Theme) to new age (Tubular Bells).

Doug wanted to pay tribute to these great composers and productions by updating and re-arranging these iconic songs. Audio Visual is Doug's fourth album and the follow-up to his previous instrumental CD, Nocturnal, which contained predominantly original compositions. His music resides near the intersection of the pop, adult contemporary, new age and soundtrack genres.

Audio Visual is available now in both CD and downloadable formats from iTunes, Amazon.com and dougastrop.com.
