Recently, Plumbworld’s sister site Toolbox launched a Facebook competition for a free iPad 2. Seeing as the competition went viral and was a huge success, the marketing geniuses behind the idea have implemented a very similar competition on the Plumbworld Facebook page.
More often than not, the marketing department are looking at new ways to promote the website and the huge range of bathroom products they stock; but sometimes they like to do something a little different and make the customer feel special. That’s the whole idea behind this free Kindle Touch; they want someone to benefit just from being a fan – that’s what it’s all about.
If a free Kindle Touch sounds good, then why not get involved in the competition and enter on the Plumbworld Facebook page. Simply click here to be directed to the competition; share the picture and then like the Plumbworld page to be in with a chance of winning.
The current trend shows that people are getting all of their friends involved to increase their chances of winning; this way, whoever wins will sell the product and share the money equally, a very cagey tactic.
The marketing boys originally had a different competition planned as James Cook from the marketing team explains: “Our first thought was to offer a quality bathroom suite or a top-end shower to the winner; but then we thought there’s a good chance not many people would be interested in these prizes and we wouldn’t be doing our customers justice. After seeing the success of the iPad 2 competition, we decided that we should make the prize a popular gadget. We had a quick poll on some of our favourite gadgets and eventually we decided to go with the Kindle Touch. The kindle is at the perfect price point; it’s worth enough to be a good prize, but it’s also cheap enough that we can afford to run the competition several times a year to reward even more of our loyal brand customers!”
The competition went out on Facebook at lunch time on Tuesday 10th July and at the time of writing this; it already has over 300 shares and likes. If the trend continues on in this manner, it should reach over 2,000 by the end of July, maybe even more if the marketing squad continue to promote it...
Plumbworld currently operates on the new, rebranded and ever-expanding Online Home Retail Network which at present includes around 50 websites which sell everything from woodburners and work benches to bathroom cabinets and bird feeders. Online Home Retail Limited originally started life as Plumbworld Ltd back in 1999 and since then it has been bought by the Grafton Group PLC in 2006 and received a major rebrand in 2012. The business now employs 60 people in its purpose built warehouse/offices and has a total turnover nearing £25 million per year.
