“Ply Gem Windows has made considerable investments in four of our manufacturing plants to improve production of energy efficient products,” says Chris Pickering, vice president, marketing, Ply Gem Windows.

Cary, NC (PRWEB) January 19, 2010

Through significant energy efficiency investments in manufacturing facilities nationwide, Ply Gem Windows is able to offer a complete family of products that meet or exceed improved 2010 ENERGY STAR® performance levels and qualify for the 2010 energy efficiency tax credit under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act.

“As the demand for green building and remodeling products increases, Ply Gem Windows has made considerable investments in four of our manufacturing plants to improve production of energy efficient products,” says Chris Pickering, vice president, marketing, Ply Gem Windows. “At Ply Gem, we are always looking toward a more sustainable future. It is our ongoing pledge to provide customers with eco-friendly solutions at all price points, and through these investments, we will remain proactive and will stay one-step ahead of advancing energy efficiency requirements in window and door products.”

Windows for the new ENERGY STAR standards and NAHB National Green Building Certification
Ply Gem Windows new construction and replacement/remodeling product series windows feature high-performance styles that can be configured to meet or exceed 2010 ENERGY STAR requirements in all climate zones. Ply Gem Windows ENERGY STAR products insulate better through advanced window frame designs and high-performance spacer systems, including the newly introduced Warm Edge Plus glass spacer system. Special Low-E glass coatings also help windows reflect infrared light, keeping homes more comfortable in temperature extremes.

Choosing ENERGY STAR rated Ply Gem Windows can help builders gain points toward the United States Green Building Council’s (USGBC) LEED® (Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design) Rating System™. Homeowners who select energy efficient Ply Gem Windows replacement options will benefit from increased comfort in the home and reduced heating and cooling bills as well.

In addition to ENERGY STAR and tax credit qualifications, many Ply Gem Windows products have been Green Approved by the NAHB (National Association of Home Builders) Research Center National Green Building Certification. These products comply with specific green practice criteria in the National Green Building Standard™ and can be used by builders to earn points toward National Green Building Certification to the Standard.

Ply Gem Windows is also a member of the Efficient Windows Collaboration (EWC), a coalition of window, door, skylight, and component manufacturers, research organizations, federal, state and local government agencies interested in expanding the market for energy efficient fenestration products.

Energy Efficiency Tax Credit
Multiple product styles within the Ply Gem Windows and Great Lakes Window® by Ply Gem replacement product series also meet or exceed the .30 U-Factor/.30 SHGC requirements for the energy tax credit allowed under the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act. To meet or exceed the required numbers, consumers can choose from the Ply Gem Windows HP (Low-E/argon) or HPsc (Solar Cooling Low-E/argon) , HP2 (dual pane Low-E/argon) or HPMax (triple pane Low-E/argon) glass package, and either the standard Warm Edge Spacer System or the new optional Warm Edge Plus spacer system. This credit is available to homeowners for qualifying replacement window and patio door purchases made in 2010 and allows for a 30% tax credit, up to $1,500.
