Edward M Bernstein and Associates has filed a lawsuit against Boehringer Ingelheim, a German drug company and others for manufacturing and distributing the blood thinner Pradaxa which is alleged to have caused uncontrolled bleeding which can have permanently disabling life threatening consequences. The lawsuit was filed in District Court in Clark County, Nevada, Case No. A-12-670302-C.

According to two studies by ISMP (Institute for Safe Medicine Practices), in one 6 month period approximately 272,000 prescriptions were written in the U.S. In one 8 month period, at least 237 deaths and over 1000 reports of severe life threatening bleeding were reported.

Ed Bernstein added, "Unfortunately Pradaxa is still being given to patients through hospitals and physician offices even though there are much safer alternatives. Patients must be warned that they may suffer uncontrollable bleeding after taking Pradaxa that may result in serious injury or death."

Edward M. Bernstein and Associates is one of Nevada's most well-known law firms that handle personal injury and product liability cases. In 2011, they fought other drug companies that resulted in a $104 million jury verdict.
