PrepForward Awards Single Mother Scholarship to Prepare for Math Teaching
Wayland, MA (PRWEB) October 16, 2014 -- PrepForward, an industry leader in online teacher preparation courses, provides scholarships for their innovative self-paced courses to educators. Valerie Thompson, a staff support educator in the Leominster Public Schools, has been awarded PrepForward’s teacher preparation scholarship to help her prepare for her teacher certification exam. Valerie will receive free access to any of PrepForward’s math, reading, language arts, writing, or inclusion courses to help her gain the skills and confidence necessary to succeed in the classroom. Many prospective Massachusetts teachers are struggling to pass the difficult MTEL exams, including the MTEL 47 Middle School Math exam, which is required for Valerie to work toward her dream of becoming a licensed math teacher.
Valerie became motivated to become a certified teacher when she first accepted a position as a paraprofessional at Achievement First Elementary, a charter school in the city of Hartford, CT. Many states currently face a shortage of math teachers, particularly at the middle school level. As a busy mother, it is difficult for her to attend in-person classes to prepare, so PrepForward provides the perfect solution.
PrepForward established a scholarship program to ensure dedicated educators with financial needs could obtain proper preparation for the classroom. Scholarship applicants may be at any stage in their teaching career, including teacher candidates preparing for state licensing exams and current teachers who are seeking professional development. PrepForward’s solutions include self-paced, online courses that feature targeted lessons, interactive exercises, full-length simulations, detailed explanations, rich diagnostic data, and expert instructor support. Please contact PrepForward to find out how these solutions to improve teacher effectiveness can be used to help the teachers in your district or institution.
