Free Online Reminder for All Prescription Medication Users, New MyMedSchedule.com

Designed to provide prescription medication users with daily pill schedule reminders, new MyMedSchedule.com also increases patient understanding and reduces medication mix-ups.

Peapack, NJ (PRWEB) June 17, 2009 -- Prescription medication users across the country have become increasingly more dependent upon new MyMedSchedule.com® (www.MyMedSchedule.com) for daily pill reminders. More than half of all insured Americans are taking prescription medications regularly, according to a study recently released by Medco Health Solutions Inc. and thanks to this free website, patients like Donna Hargett of Greencastle can manage their medications more easily while preventing prescription mix-ups.

Offered by MedActionPlan.com, a healthcare education company in Peapack, N.J., MyMedSchedule.com is a free web-based program for managing prescriptions online. The program allows consumers to create medication schedules, including images of their pills, save and print schedules for themselves, and/or family members. They can even set up reminders to "take your pills", remember a follow up appointment, and get a med refill. All for free.

The program enables patients, doctors, nursing and pharmacy staff, as well as adult children, to access, store, update, manage and track all of a patient's medications. Redundant or outdated prescriptions are easily identified and can be immediately omitted from the list, and the schedule can be printed in Spanish or English. All personal health information captured on the site is private and is protected by SSL encryption.

"As a person caring for a family member who is dependent on prescription medication due to a chronic illness, I have found MyMedSchedule to be invaluable," said Donna Hargett. "I was originally introduced to the program by the staff at Indiana University Medical Center in Indianapolis when my husband underwent a transplant. They use it all the time, and share it with all of their transplant patients. The site is wonderful. I don't know how I could have managed my husband's medications without it."

Users simply click on medications and supplements to add them to their own list. They can then print their schedule displaying colored images of their prescriptions, to reinforce the look of each pill. They can also print wallet-sized and large-type charts. Weekly checklists help people keep track of whether they have taken all their medications. MyMedSchedule.com also allows patients to schedule refill reminders and map nearby pharmacies. Future plans include links to on-line pharmacies and doctors.

"MyMedSchedule was designed to give patients an easy, flexible method for managing and sharing their medication information with all of their medical professionals and care-givers. Our goal is to help patients, and ensure the safest and most positive outcome from their (medication therapy) prescription regimen," explained founder Tim Peters, president of MedActionPlan.com, LLC.
