The level of experience and knowledge within the FNC group allowed us to create a thorough, comprehensive competency assessment for the Home Health CNA specialty.
Greensboro, NC (PRWEB) July 31, 2012
Prophecy Healthcare® added the new Home Health / Private Duty CNA Assessment to build out their existing CNA specialty assessments available in the online Clinical Assessments library. The collaborative development process formed a strong relationship with new validation partners - Family & Nursing Care (FNC). Using validated assessments to assist with hiring and retaining the most qualified personnel for healthcare positions directly correlates to improving quality of patient care.
The HH CNA assessments were developed by conducting a formal job analysis and test plan development with a panel of subject matter experts (SMEs) with over 70 years of combined experience in this specialty. The job analysis, held in Silver Spring, Maryland consisted of identifying the critical job duties, knowledges, skills, and abilities (KSAs) of the home health certified nursing assistants. The SMEs from FNC, provided specific ratings and metrics that then allowed Prophecy’s Clinical Team to create the foundation for the test plan development.
“The three-day workshop spent with both clinical and supervisory staff from Family & Nursing Care was invaluable,” commented Leslie Jeffries, RN, BSN Director of Clinical Validation. “The level of experience and knowledge within the group allowed us to create a thorough, comprehensive competency assessment for this specialty. Home Health CNAs play a vital role in the care of clients in the home setting during times of illness or post- discharge from the hospital. There are numerous critical competencies required for this specialty, and we have built an assessment with FNC that allows employers to assess for these critical skills and knowledge during the pre-employment period.”
Although Prophecy’s online assessment library contained a variety of CNA assessments, the KSAs of a home health or private duty CNA can vary tremendously from those in a healthcare facility or hospital setting.
● CNA – Acute Care
● CNA – Dementia
● CNA – Disability
● CNA – Home Health /Private Duty
● CNA – Hospice & Palliative Care
● CNA – LTC
● CNA – Sitter
As a result of the successful launch of these new assessments, Prophecy and Family & Nursing Care hope to partner together to validate other assessments in the near future to continue providing the health care industry with new specialty specific assessments directly linked to evaluating healthcare professionals’ ability to provide safe and effective patient care.
Prophecy continues to seek out validation partners to join together in their quest to offer assessments across all specialties in the Nursing, Allied Health, and Home Health clinical fields.
