The Quogue Wildlife Refuge Receives Brine Family Charitable Trust Grant

The Quogue Wildlife Refuge received the Brine Family Charitable Trust Grant to support preservation of natural habitats, environmental education, and nature exploration.

(PRWEB) October 5, 2007 -- The Quogue Wildlife Refuge received the Brine Family Charitable Trust Grant to support preservation of natural habitats, environmental education, and nature exploration. The Quogue Wildlife Refuge’s mission is to serve as a responsible land steward of the refuge property and its natural resources, as well as to promote, implement, support, and assist environmental education and wildlife management. The Quogue Wildlife Refuge project focuses on habitat maintenance that will preserve the natural ecosystem of the Refuge, which hosts a variety of flora and fauna, including the rare White Fringed Orchid and the globally rare Dwarf Pines.

Michael Nelson, Director of the Quogue Wildlife Refuge, says, “We are very excited about being a recipient of the 2007 grant awards! We are looking forward to having the needed supplies and vehicles to conduct proper trail work and habitat management as needed. The award is very much appreciated!”

The Brine Family Charitable Trust 2007 Summer Grant program for the East End of Long Island was created to fund projects on Long Island that serve to sustain The East End’s biodiversity, recover its endangered species, and maintain its natural ecosystem.

The Brine Family Charitable Trust, founded by Kevin R. Brine in 1989, is a recognized 501(c)(3) established as a private nonoperating foundation under section 509(a) of the Internal Revenue code. The trust does not accept donations.
