The 3x1 name not only originates from the standard weaving construction of denim, but also marks the third denim line launched by founder and designer Scott Morrison. Morrison, having previously launched Paper Denim & Cloth, and Earnest Sewn, wanted to “reinvent the way people see denim” for 3x1.
In addition to their ready-to-wear collection, Morrison conceptualized creating a retail environment fused with the production process for their Manhattan based store. Along with a full standing denim Atelier, 3x1 included center factory space completely enclosed in glass. “Their Mercer St store houses a manufacturing facility with all the equipment needed to build a great fitting jean.” REVOLVE denim buyer Lauren Yerkes explains, “The fabric, washes and fits are all beautifully crafted and their execution is perfect.”
