Yorkville, IL (PRWEB) August 22, 2012
Raging Waves (http://www.ragingwaves.com), Illinois’ largest waterpark, is collecting backpacks as part of its annual “Making Waves with Backpacks” donation drive to benefit underprivileged children. The waterpark is teaming up with Blessings in a Backpack by offering a $5 discount on a day pass in exchange for a gently used backpack. The donation drive runs through the summer.
Raging Waves already has collected more than 275 backpacks with this back-to-school promotion. Their goal is to bring in 500 backpacks, which will help the non-profit organization feed more than 750 children in Illinois during the upcoming school year.
“For the fourth year in a row, we are partnering with Blessings in a Backpack and the response from the community has been incredible,” said Sandy Martinez, Marketing Director at Raging Waves. “We’re hopeful that our efforts to support this important program will positively benefit as many children as possible in Illinois.”
Blessings in a Backpack is a community outreach program designed to feed elementary school children whose families qualify for the federal free and reduced meal program, and have little or no food on the weekends. Backpack food provided to these families includes easy-to-prepare, ready-to-eat foods, like granola bars, juice boxes, mac and cheese, and oatmeal.
