Madrid, Spain (PRWEB) November 10, 2012
Former professional Spanish footballer and current Real Sociedad Assistant (Goalkeeper) Coach, Roberto Navajas recently visited the EduKick Madrid International Football Academy at its headquarters on the campus of the University of Madrid.
Navajas is a long-time friend of EduKick Owner, Joey Bilotta. The two former pros first met when Bilotta was on professional trial with Jerez de la Frontera in the second division (la Segunda A) in 1987. Bilotta was just out of College and only 21 and Navajas was just 17 years old and already on a pro contract with Jerez as the club's third goalkeeper.
The two football enthusiasts always valued their friendship and kept in touch over the years as each managed to remain working in their beloved football after their playing days had ended. Joey Bilotta, as founder and operator of EduKick International Football Academies and Roberto Navajas, as a professional football coach, currently under contract with La Liga's REAL SOCIEDAD.
On a rare "day off" Monday for La Liga coaches, the day after their home match against Zaragoza in September, Navajas (on Bilotta's request) drove from San Sebastian in the north of Spain four hours south to Madrid in order to visit the EduKick Madrid Football Academy.
While there Navajas visited with the EduKick Madrid Academy players and Oakville Soccer Club u13 boys team and then conducted question/answer session chat with all the players, staff and visiting parents in attendance. Oakville Soccer Club Boys U13 Coach, Paul Marques was impressed, "Roberto's style with his chat to the boys was incredible. His theme about having passion for football, no matter what level you play at..., impressed me. And my players got to sit down, meet and chat with a La Liga coach...what a great experience for us all."
Navajas spent time after his "charla" or "chat" with the players taking photos, signing autographs and visiting with the players, coaches and parents. Then he stayed on for dinner and visited further with EduKick Madrid academy staff and players. Bilotta commented, "I really appreciated the effort Robbie made to drive all the way to Madrid from San Sebastian for our players...he's a real humble and generous professional and a great friend of mine and of EduKick Madrid. I know I speak for our EduKick Madrid Directors, Anselmo and Poli Vicioso Aragones, when I say Gracias Roberto, and we hope you will come back again very soon."
Navajas, who's club, Real Sociedad currently sits in 17th place in LA LIGA, is presently focused on helping his squad move up the Spanish table. It will be a long and challenging season for the team from San Sebastian but they traditionally find a way to remain in La Liga's Primera.
After the season ends, Navajas will be touring North America and will be in Toronto, Canada from June 7-10, 2013 to conduct a Spanish Futbol Development Camp. This summer soccer camp is being organized by EduKick and Euro Star Goalkeeper Academy (Mr. John Moreira).
EduKick Madrid Head Coach, Sergio Leon and General Director, Anselmo Vicioso Aragones will also be coaching at this camp. The camp is open to soccer players from the Greater Toronto Area from 9-17 years old. Interested parties should contact EduKick for more information or to pre-register.
