Young Doctor Faces Ethical Dilemmas in New Medical Drama Novel
Pinehurst, NC (PRWEB) June 30, 2014 -- Readers will see what happens when an aggressive and inexperienced young doctor with a chip on his shoulder struggles to fulfill his moral and ethical duties while serving in the less than ideal conditions of a hospital emergency department. In author Jim Cleary’s new book, the “Rent-a-Doc” may very well become the patient as a high-stakes medical and personal drama plays out.
David Neuman, MD FACEP, is well educated and ambitious, but when he falls in significant financial and legal distress, and becomes estranged from his wife, he has no alternative but to accept a position in a hospital emergency department with a reputation for poor quality care. Adding to his consternation, he deems the community as a very undesirable place to live. Considering the job beneath his training and qualifications, he enters the role with an attitude. With an aggressive chip on his shoulder and youthful inexperience, he plunges headlong into a minefield rife with ethical and moral conflicts. Abandoning the long engrained fundamental values of his youth, he eventually loses his moral compass. The struggle to right the ship — regain his moral equilibrium — proves quite problematic, erratic unpredictable and ethereal.
“Rent-a-Doc” is a compelling medical drama that follows a doctor’s sojourn through trying days, facing challenges that are all too realistic and possible in this day and age. Doctors, medical students, those familiar with the fields of health care and casual readers will find Cleary’s novel to be an engaging and engrossing experience.
