‘No Reason for a Rhyme’ challenges readers to express themselves

Author and poet Rik Karr compels readers to think outside the box and view their worlds through different lenses in his new collection of poetry, “No Reason for a Rhyme” (published by AuthorHouse).

Karr describes his poems as “a tiny peak behind the curtains of how my mind works.” At the beginning of each poem, he states where and what poem the month was written in to give readers an idea of what was going in his life and what inspired him to write the poem.

Poignant yet often humorous, “No Reason for a Rhyme” evokes a wide range of emotions, from joy to boredom to anger, and translates Karr’s experiences and travels into poetry. He hopes his poems will inspire readers to journey outside their comfort zones and explore the world around them.

“Look around at the world,” Karr urges his readers. “Notice the unnoticed.”

An excerpt from the poem, “Time Traveler,” featured in “No Reason for a Rhyme”:

“Psychology and experience collide,
Contradicting our thoughts.
The world is classical in its
Nonconscience recollection of skills.
Priming, procedural.”
