The Society of Certified Senior Advisors will be hosting its July educational webinar Caregiver Burnout: Managing the Challenges of Caregiving on Wednesday July 25, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. MST.
The silent plight of unpaid family caregivers in the United States is an issue of increasingly grave concern as baby boomers join the ranks of those 65 years of age and older. Eldercare giving can be especially complex given the personal, health and financial challenges that accompany caring for an older family member. The stressful situations that occur between adult children and aging parents can be detrimental to the health and well-being of all concerned. In these situations, it is especially important that caregivers manage their own well-being at all times.
Dr. Jim McCabe’s vast knowledge and experience with eldercare and case management services makes him especially aware of the pitfalls that families face when caring for the elderly. McCabe is the President of Eldercare Resources, a geriatric care management company that specializes in eldercare and case management services. Over a period of more than 25 years, he has assisted hundreds of families with planning in the areas of eldercare and long term care planning.
This seminar provides helpful insights into the factors that can contribute to caregiver burnout and useful techniques and resources for adjusting to the responsibilities of managing the process. Jim will discuss the many aspects of what makes caregiving so difficult; caregiving at a distance, caregiving resources, the types of stress experienced by caregivers and tips on how to handle that stress.
Jim has served on the Board of The Financial Planning Association in Phoenix, AZ. He has worked extensively with professionals in the areas of estate planning, elder law and health care. He holds Masters Degrees from the University of Hawaii in Social Work and Public Health, and earned his PhD at the University of California, Berkeley. He is a frequent contributor to the Journal of Practical Estate Planning and an instructor in the Certified Senior Advisor education program.
The webinar will take place on Wednesday, July 25, 2012 at 12:00 p.m. MST. It is a live event and a recording will be available shortly after the conclusion of the webinar on the Resources section of the CSA website.
