Optimising your site for better search rankings? Here are 9 tips for on-page optimization, fresh from ETech 7 Inc.’s marketing team:
1. Page Title
This is one of the most important and simplest steps to take. They sit at the the browser window when you view a web page. They are also titles of a pages that appear in search engines. Make them descriptive, but also snappy and relevant to the rest of your site.
2. Meta Description
Meta data is the HTML description of a site inside a Google search. These tags may not influence search engine rankings, but they can draw in visitors.
It is good to include keywords in headings whenever possible. h1 tags give the text more weight as keywords than h2 tags, and h2 tags have more weight than h3 tags. h4 and h5 tags can be used as well, but their influence on keywords is virtually the same as that of regular text.
4. Cascading Style Sheets (CSS)
HTML is the back-end code of any website read by a search engine. While they extract relevant information from HTML, such as keywords, CSS hold a template for the layout of a page. In CSS, one can define how headings, links, and other visual elements of the text appear.
Images on a web page can certainly enhance user experience. However, when inserting images into a website, keep in mind the following:
6. Domain Information.
Search engine rankings favor sites that are registered for a longer period of time. Longer domain registrations indicate a commitment to the site, which means that the site has a lower chance of being removed as spam. Extend the website registration for an extra year for an SEO boost.
7. MOZ Rank
MOZ Rank is a general measure of how much “online reputation” a site has. The higher the MOZ rank, the better. Note that MOZ Rank is an important factor in both on-page and off- page optimization. Consult the ETech 7 marketing team for more.
8. Content is king!
When Google scans, or “crawls” a site, it updates all the relevant information, such as keywords and other SEO data. The key to improved rankings is to attract these crawls and have them visit your site as often as possible.
The best thing to do is to produce fresh content and publish it on the website regularly. Always remember: there is no substitute for fresh, relevant, well written copy. Quite simply, content is king!
9. URL Structure
The URL of a web page is its web address. For example, ETech 7 Inc.'s blog has a URL of http://blog.etech7.com/ The URL structure of a website is all about how the different URLs are interconnected. So link your pages in a way that streamlines use experience. It’ll increase the flow of traffic to your site and boost your rankings.
