Johnson County, Kansas Wins SIRE Client Award

Annual awards recognize cities and counties that use technology to benefit their communities and citizens.

Salt Lake City, UT (Vocus/PRWEB ) September 12, 2009 -- The 2009 SIRE Client Awards were presented at the annual SIRE user conference in Park City, Utah. The award was created three years ago to honor SIRE clients that have demonstrated excellence in state and local governance by teaming with SIRE.

Kris Painter, President of SIRE Technologies, notes: "We share with our clients the commitment to excellence and improving their existing processes through our technology. We are thrilled to see some of these results and honor the clients who achieved them."

Johnson County, KS - "Government Transparency" award

Congratulations to Johnson County, KS for implementing a system that greatly improves access to information, fosters transparency, and streamlines manual processes. At its core, the County's Legislative Information Management System (LIMS) uses SIRE's electronic document management system to file, research, retrieve, and maintain a variety of records. On top of this base application, SIRE's Agenda Plus program supports meeting management activities. Complementing the functionality of these programs, Johnson County also implemented the following specific modules: Minutes Plus; Video Plus; Committee Manager; Workflow; and WebCenter. Johnson County was instrumental in the development of the SIRE Committee Manager module (for appointed boards, commissions, and committees), and was one of the motivating forces which encouraged SIRE to expand its services to include support for live and on-demand streaming access via webcast technology to public meetings.

After several failed attempts to implement a fully integrated system with numerous other vendors, SIRE Technologies was the first--and only--vendor who satisfied the County's stringent requirements, but also who went above and beyond to demonstrate that they wanted to be an active and participatory partner in taking the system to the next level of excellence.

"The modular design of SIRE's products allowed us to develop a truly customized approach to the needs and functional requirements identified by Johnson County", said Jeanne McAferty, Chief Deputy Clerk. "In addition, SIRE actively engaged with us in identifying additional components or features that weren't already in their family of products…and they went out and designed the solution for us."

The SIRE solutions implemented in Johnson County have completely replaced the patchwork of applications, programs, and systems previously in place to support the operation of the Board of County Commissioners. Better yet, the SIRE solutions will be extended to other policy-making bodies (boards and commissions) within the organization in order to maximize the return on Johnson County's investment in this system.
