SamePage Offers New Deployment Model with Multi-Tenancy for On-Premise Customers

Enterprise wiki software company adapts model previously exclusive to SaaS to offer customers more deployment options

Fremont, Calif. (PRWEB) February 10, 2009 -- eTouch SamePage, a dynamic enterprise wiki, today announced it has introduced a new and evolutionary deployment option for its industry-leading Enterprise 2.0 application. SamePage will now offer multi-tenancy for on-premise enterprise customers, especially large enterprises and umbrella organizations.

SamePage customers will now have three deployment options from which they can choose - software as a service, or SaaS (hosted by SamePage); on-premise; and multi-tenancy on-premise. Historically, multi-tenancy is a deployment model used only by SaaS vendors and products. With this additional delivery mechanism, SamePage will offer its customers increased deployment versatility.

"We want our enterprise wiki customers to have more flexibility and choices when choosing the best way to deploy SamePage for their internal corporate use, as well as for communication and collaboration with their customers," said Aniruddha Gadre, CEO of eTouch Systems. "In today's economic climate, it's important to us that we remain responsive to the needs of our customers, and this is something they have asked for. Large enterprises and umbrella organizations in particular, will be able to develop customized wikis for each of their clients and track usage and activity, along with other benefits. For us, it's another service and pricing differentiator that other wiki companies don't use."

A multi-tenant solution is utilized by multiple groups of people but is based on a single, shared infrastructure. An application is built to partition each group's data so that it is private, while operating on a shared system.

Features of SamePage's multi-tenant, on-premise model include the following:

Increased flexibility and efficiency with horizontal scaling of the enterprise wiki within an organization. Customers running a multi-tenanted SamePage instance can offer fully independent, customized and secure domains to every 'tenant' or customer. (A domain is a siloed repository of content capable of hosting hundreds of wikis and thousands of users.)

Every department, division or business unit within a large enterprise can have its own private and secure domain with separate branding. For example, sales.acme.com and engineering.acme.com can be two completely independent domains served by the same instance of SamePage.

IT departments only have to manage one wiki instance. Management of the wiki infrastructure is centralized and streamlined, while individual departments can run their 'own' wiki independently. Further, IT departments can ensure better accountability for usage by introducing charge-back models for their various tenants.

Consolidation of wiki services into a single, centrally managed infrastructure can translate to significant cost savings. Hardware, network and IT overheads can be dramatically reduced.

All domains can be served through a single instance that can be optimized for scalability and performance through clustering, so all tenants can benefit without spending for resources separately.

A multi-tenanted instance of SamePage in the enterprise can integrate seamlessly with LDAP servers and SSO solutions for authentication. Users having access to multiple domains can switch seamlessly from one domain to the other.

Organizations can also leverage the multi-tenant architecture of SamePage to offer secure wiki-based extranets for each of their partners, clients or external stakeholders through a single, centralized wiki infrastructure.
